Let friends help with their farewell
Saying goodbye to a pet can come with vet and aftercare costs, and friends often want to do something. Farewell gifts let them help, paid straight to you.
It's entirely optional. Gifts only appear on your pet's memorial if you turn them on.
How it works
Three steps, at your own pace.
-
Create a free memorial for your pet
A page to share their photos and stories, and a place for messages from the people who loved them.
-
Turn on gifts from your memorial's edit page
Find Farewell gifts on the Farewell details step and set them up with Stripe, a secure payments provider. Stripe will ask for some personal details, like your name, date of birth and address, and the bank account you'd like gifts paid into.
Stripe checks these details, not Gaia. Only the memorial's owner can turn gifts on.
-
Share your memorial link
Send it to family and friends, or share it wherever you like. They can choose an amount between $5 and $1,000, and they don't need an account to give.
What it costs
Gaia doesn't charge anything to turn gifts on. When someone gives, Gaia keeps a 5% platform fee, and Stripe's card processing fee is also deducted. The rest goes to your own account through Stripe, and then on to your bank account.
Gifts are generally not refundable. If a gift is ever refunded or disputed with the giver's card provider, it's handled through your Stripe account under Stripe's rules, so the amount, plus any fee Stripe charges for a dispute, comes out of that account.
Card payments are handled by Stripe, so Gaia never sees card details. Gaia never holds gift money, either.
Gifts are personal gifts to you. They're not a charitable donation, and they're not tax-deductible.

No. A gift is a voluntary, personal payment to the person who turned gifts on for the memorial. Gaia isn't a charity or a fundraiser, and gifts aren't charitable donations, so they're not tax-deductible.
Whatever you choose. They're a personal gift to you, so they're yours to use as you like, whether that's vet or aftercare costs, a keepsake, or something else entirely.
No. When someone gives, their name and any message they add appear on the memorial's tribute wall, but the amount is never shown publicly.
